STITCH FIX HIGHLIGHTS
- Stitch Fix Reviews 2016: Stitch Fix January Review 1 – Stitch Fix January Review 2
In the second Stitch Fix of October, I received a pair of boots, a sweater dress, a pair of frayed jeans, a pullover sweater, and a lace peplum top. I am sure as Kristin gets to know me I’ll start receiving more color, and patterns however for a first box, I think she did great!
Ready to see everything lovelies? First you’ll see the style cards followed by each piece in outfits I put together. Under the photos, you’ll also find my style tips, and outfit details + how to recreate each look with clickable visuals that would take you to the corresponding item.
Stitch Fix showed the Henley Pullover with jeans in both looks on the style cards.
Emily Rose Ellis Zipper Detail Henley Pullover ($48)
Style Tip: I’ve lately started to receive pieces that can be styled together in my Stitch Fix’s. I loved the slim fit of the Emily Rose pullover (also love this similar V neck style), and loved it even more paired with these on trend frayed jeans that also came in the second box of October. What’s more, these boots arrived in my box as well, and they were the perfect pair to complete my casual weekend look.
I kept it simple with accessories with a couple gold pieces to add sparkle, and a cross body bag with tassel detail.
Emily Rose Pullover: Status – Returned
I do like this pullover however at one of my Nordstrom shopping sprees I bought this sweater. Although they are not identical, the fits are similar, and the V neck works the same as the zipper.
OUTFIT DETAILS

Stitch Fix shared two looks with the SP black frayed jeans; one casual, and one glammed up with heels.
SP Black Derek Frayed Stepped Hem Distressed Skinny Jean ($58)
Status – Kept
Frayed jeans are very on trend right now. This piece has a beautiful fit and is at such an amazing price point too. (although I would have bought it if it was at a higher price point too. When I find denim that fits good, I jump on it )
Needless to say I kept these jeans and even featured them in a fall trends post very recently right here.
Diba Triumph Cutout Booties ($95)
Status – Returned
The style of these cutout booties is also huge this fall. I always say though, I only adapt trends that work with my style sense. Although in more feminine styles, I adore pointy toe boots, this pair is a bit too masculine for my taste. Even though the boots are gorgeously made, they are just not me. (although I do like these a bit more from the same brand if you like the cut out style; I think the two tone color made the boots more interesting)
RECREATE THE LOOK
This Market & Spruce sweater dress is shown layered with jackets in both outfits on Stitch Fix styling cards.
Market & Spruce Merideth Sweater Dress ($88)
Style Tip: My first instinct was to layer this sweater dress ( recently purchased this sweater dress, and LOVE this one as well) with a vegan leather jacket (also kept from a previous Stitch Fix) similar to the second look shown in the style card. I love wearing brown with burgundy.
I wanted to mix in another color, and introduced my mustard large cross body bag. I’ve had this bag for a while but lately bring it out more as I see mustard at every store. ( This is another great option in a similar color)
Finally I added in my burgundy shoes in a lighter tone (see this similar pump option) and also light green Kendra Scott earrings I kept from Rocksbox. (Have you gotten your FREE MONTH of Rocksbox? Get it here commitment free with CODE: theboxqueenxoxo)

This is a gorgeous dress. I have two reasons for sending it back; first of all, like I mentioned I’ve been buying sweater dresses. More importantly the fabric was a tad too thick. I like to be able to layer these dresses easily with vegan leather jackets, and this
If you prefer bigger coats with more room, I do recommend the dress. It’s substantial in person.
Stitch Fix shared two outfits with the Brixon Ivy Lace Blouse, both classically designed and elegant.
Brixon Ivy Hemsworth Lace Split Back Blouse ($68)
Style Tip: This stunning lace piece is so feminine and intricate ( love this similar style) that I wanted to contrast it with my ripped skinny AG jeans to add a bit of an edge. I brought in leopard pumps for fun factor, and the fringe bag from Stitch Fix for some movement. The accessories were kept classic not to overwhelm the look; they are there to bring in a bit of sparkle.
Status – Returned
I absolutely loved this lace peplum top but I received a similar top in none other than color green from Golden Tote. (which I’ll share soon – see all my Golden Tote Reviews)

Isn’t the back of the top beautiful too? LOVE!

Linking up to Crazy Together Stitch Fix Party.
My favorite time of the month is here. Not only did I get to try on the gorgeous pieces my long time stylist included for me in my 35th Stitch Fix, ( can you believe it! I’ve hit another Stitch Fix milestone. Now the next up will be 40th ) but I also get to share my thoughts, outfits, and style tips with all of you lovely ladies. I think for me, sharing the Stitch Fix excitement with fellow SF fans is one of the most fun parts of getting this personal styling service each month. (and sometimes twice a month ) It’s lovely to hear what you all think of the pieces I get,
and hear about your own recent Stitch Fix experiences. <3
Have you just found us here on TheBoxQueen? Interested to learn more about Stitch Fix, or would like to see the types of pieces they send? You are in luck! I’ve been a Stitch Fix customer for almost three years, and have been reviewing the styling service for more than 2. Find all my previous Stitch Fix Reviews, outfits, and style tips here in the super detailed Stitch Fix Category.
Before we start with the second Stitch Fix of January, I want to point out some highlights from my Stitch Fix Reviews for new readers. These are great starting points if you are new to TheBoxQueen or Stitch Fix service.
Here are some Stitch Fix Review Highlights:
In my January Stitch Fix second box, I received the blue/green faux leather jacket I’ve been wanting for months, a faux leather quilted vest, a pair of legging jeans, a sweater, and a hooded drawstring top.
Ready to see everything up close? As always, you’ll find what I think of each piece, my style tips, and whether I kept/or sent back the items along with my reasoning.
First stop is the Quilted Vest. Here we go!
Stitch Fix styled Fate Rowen Faux Leather Quilted Vest casually with jeans, and over a dress.
Fate Rowen Faux Leather Quilted Vest ($78)
I’ve been pinning vests on my Stitch Fix Pinterest board , (where I pin new Stitch Fix pieces I like, and my Stitch Fix outfits) for months, and asking my stylist for a cute vest. I was so giddy to find this beauty in my 2nd Stitch Fix January box.
This quilted vest is that hard to find mix of classic & trendy. The quilted fabric is such a timeless, preppy look (just look at these J.Crew versions) but the moto style, and the faux leather gives it an edge that I love.
Style Tip: This type of a vest is very easy to pair with a variety of bottoms. I wanted to combine it with a chic, midi, fitted dress in burgundy. Burgundy and navy/cobalt blue is a color trio I’ve always liked. I highly recommend you wear them together. (btw all the dots you see on my arms are raindrops. We took these pictures under rain- the crazy things I do for blog pics LOL )
Style Tip: I am in LOVE with this Victoria Emerson wrap bracelet with freshwater pearls.( It’s the wrap freshwater pearl bracelet in brown) I was introduced to the brand, and their gorgeous, and well made wrap bracelets recently. I can’t stop wearing this one I chose ever since. I think the wrap style is very modern, and the pearls add sophistication to any outfit.
PROMO ALERT: Get your First Victoria Emerson order 20% OFF with CODE: boxqueen20 The wrap bracelets are my favorites of the online boutique.

STATUS – KEPT
Do I even need to say? There was not even a bit of chance that I was letting this one go. It has taken its spot in my closet and is hanging next to my faux leather jackets. <3
Stitch Fix styled the Olaf Hooded Drawstring knit top with sneakers, and boots casually in both outfits.
Laila Jayde Olaf Hooded Drawstring Knit Top ($58)
This Hooded Drawstring Top immediately reminded me of workout wear. It’s a great piece to pull over your leggings after a good session at the gym, or after running. I also wear this type of outfits when I am running errands, or when I am dropping the kids off at their schools.
The top has the coziest inside. The knit fabric inside the top reminds me of a loose type of fleece, very soft, and huggable.
Some similar top options I like:
Style Tip: I thought my leggings from Fabletics (you can take their style quiz and sign up for free. My Fabletics review here) in the pretty purple would really complement the grey top. I wore my favorite Nike Free’s in pink (similar) and I was all ready to tackle the morning.
STATUS – SENT BACK
This is a great top. I just wasn’t looking for tops this casual from this Stitch Fix box as I have many of them already.

Top: Stitch Fix | Leggings: Fabletics (see my Review Here) | Shoes: Nike Free (similar) | Earrings: Wantable (see my Reviews) | Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Stitch Fix styled the faux leather jacket casually with black jeans, and for a fancier look over a dress. The Mira Skinny Jeans are also shown for a day and night look.
Liverpool Mira Skinny Jean ($78)
Both the Liverpool legging jeans and the gorgeous green/blue faux leather jacket came from my second January Stitch Fix box.
Let’s talk about the jeans first. These pull on jeans (found here in a darker color) are super soft, and forgiving. I love that they are in the zones of legging comfort while still looking almost like pants.
Kut from The Kloth Piere Faux Leather Jacket ($108)
This jacket!!!! I’ve been pining for it since I first saw it as a part of new Stitch Fix pieces a long time ago. In my notes to the stylist, I kept mentioning colored jackets every single box. Finally I opened this Stitch Fix box and squealed. It’s the MOST stunning faux leather jacket. I can’t get over the pretty color.
Style Tip: I thought the jeans and the faux leather jacket were a great match. I wore the Enclothe knit top (with crochet/embroidered arms) inside as it is the best neutral item. I wore my Kendra Scott necklace from Rocksbox (get a FREE month here with CODE: theboxqueenxoxo) and my plaid pumps to add some more color, and a deeper shade of green to my look.
JEANS & FAUX LEATHER JACKET – BOTH KEPT
This is the fourth really cool faux leather jacket I am keeping from Stitch Fix. The first one was from before my SF review years (featured here- the brown jacket in the first pic) The second jacket is one of my favorite jackets of all time, this jacket still available for sale in a different color, (and from this Stitch Fix Review.) Third one is the beautiful burgundy number I kept from the initial January 2016 Stitch Fix.
The jeans were so comfy with a great fit. I couldn’t let them go either. LOVE both! <3

I like how Stitch Fix shows this white sweater with jeans and in a pretty skirt outfit.
Papermoon April Patterned Knit Sweater ($54)
I like the color, knit pattern, and length of this sweater.
As I mentioned in the beginning, the rain has been non-stop lately. It was once again one of those rainy days when I took these pictures. Do you gals remember, I mentioned in my first January review my husband and daughter got me a puffy coat with a hood. ( I couldn’t keep the white puffy coat from my Stitch Fix as it did not have a hood) This navy one is what I received, and love.
STATUS – SENT BACK
This white sweater is very versatile, and could be worn with anything pretty much. It is shorter so it looks lovely with skirts as well. I even tried it over a fitted dress. I didn’t keep it as I kept another white sweater from Stitch Fix that had a somewhat similar loosely knit pattern.
OUTFIT DETAILS
Sweater: StitchFix | Layering Tank Top : BCBG | Legging Pant: LOFT (other colors) | Puffy Coat: Michael Kors (Same Brand very similar ON Sale) | Shoulder Bag: Stitch Fix ( keeper from this review) | Earrings: Kendra Scott (kept from this Rocksbox Review – Get Your FREE MONTH with CODE: theboxqueenxoxo) | Boots: Sold out (similar booties) | Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Overall Impressions: Stitch Fix #35 was a huge success. I ended up keeping 3 items from this box. They are each more versatile, and stylish than the next. As I am on my 35th Stitch Fix, I obviously recommend trying Stitch Fix, and I can do it wholeheartedly. I think the $20 styling fee, which is 100% applicable to your purchase, is a very small risk worth to take to experience the excitement of the service. I love it so much, and can’t stop. <3
