I’m participating in Expressions Vinyl‘s Vinyl Palooza, which means I’m going to share a fun vinyl project with you all AND you have the chance to win a $100 Gift Card to EV at the bottom of this post! After some deliberation I decided on a DIY glow in the dark camping shirt for my son.
I’ve never used Glow in the Dark Iron on Vinyl, but it really is the coolest thing ever! When it came in, I was concerned at first, wondering if I was just sent white on accident, but once I took a peek in the dark, it totally lit up! SO cool.

I designed the “Life is better around the campfire” graphic in Illustrator, saved it as an svg (free download at bottom of post) and then uploaded it to Cricut Design Space™ . Make sure to mirror the image prior to cutting! I used my Cricut Explore to cut the iron on vinyl.
Weed out the vinyl – can I just say how HOW easy it was to weed this vinyl? This was a pleasure to work with! Now that you’ve weeded the image, place it onto the shirt. My iron doesn’t have a cotton setting that doesn’t spit out steam, so if yours is the same, make sure to pour out any water. Set it to the high cotton setting, lay a pillow case or other light fabric over the vinyl and iron it on – pressing firmly for about 45 seconds. Once you are done the front side, turn over the shirt and do the same on the back. That’s it, you’re done! To charge the glow, just expose it to light.
Can you tell he loves it?
Wouldn’t this design be fun on a coffee mug?!? And shhhh- but it’s my Dad’s birthday today and he is totally getting an adult version! And I’ve had two other relatives request one for themselves — we love camping, can you tell?
